The Giving Circles Network Annual Event is coming up - hope you can join us!

The event, for which we want to thank our lead sponsor Giving Works, Inc. (strategy advisors to non-profit organizations) and our supporting sponsor Commerce Bank, will be held on:

Friday, October 24th 2008 in Washington, DC (9am – 4pm)

Location:   National Press Club

Anyone involved in, supporting or interested in starting a Giving Circle is welcome to attend this event.

Purpose: The Annual Networking event offers an opportunity for participants to:

Network with other Giving Circles as well as potential hosts and service providers;

Exchange information and gain knowledge and expertise in areas directly relevant to Giving Circle strategic planning, organizational, financial and impact issues; and

Leverage and gain access to resources and services that better enable Giving circles to achieve both internal and cause-related goals and objectives.

The event will feature:

Keynote speaker: Celeste Terry, Host of the Global Talk Radio show "Demystifying Non Profits" and

Assistant Executive Director, United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland

Giving Circles, Services and Hosting Booth/Information Area;

Panel & Breakout sessions (two concurrent sessions) on:

Part A:  Panel on Inspiring Leadership, Giving & Participation 

Leadership Panel Topics:

  • Rallying People:  Confidence & Capacity for Giving - Colleen Willoughby, Washington Women’s Foundation (Seattle, WA)

  • Strategies for Leadership (Orientation, Responsibilities & Succession) - Deborah Hoffman, Funding Arts Network (Miami-Dade, Florida)

  • Inspiring Participation (Member Recruitment & Retention)  - Sondra Shaw-Hardy, Women's Philanthropy Institute and Co-Founder, Three Generations Circle of Women Givers (Traverse City, MI)
